The story of the Beltane Ranch wedding venue goes back to 1878, when John Drummond purchased the land and began to cultivate fine wine varieties like Cabernet and Chardonnay, completely transforming the California vineyard scene. In 1892, Mary Ellen Pleasant purchased the land. Mary was a bit of a revolutionary. She was a Black woman and feminist who had spent previous decades assisting with the Underground Railroad. Some even consider her the first self-made Black millionaire! She used her New Orleans heritage to inspire construction of the ranch, bringing the South to Sonoma Valley. Today, the property continues to make its own wines as well as olive oil. Trust me, this property will be a truly iconic spot for a legendary wedding!

Beltane Ranch is the perfect spot for weddings of all sizes. While they can host up to 225 guests, they also have micro wedding and elopement packages for up to 20 guests. The venue has been outfitted with spaces where you can host every part of your wedding, including morning-of preparation. The house has six private guest rooms where you and your wedding party can unwind and get ready before your day begins.
The best spot for your ceremony will be the 200-year-old Blue Oak nestled next to the mansion. As you exchange your vows beneath the tree, your guests are going to get crystal clear views of the surrounding valley. Once your ceremony is over, they can stick next to the house for a cocktail hour in the yard.
Your reception will happen at the Panoramic Lawn Site, where you will have centuries-old oaks to give you shade. It’s the ideal spot for every flavor of garden party!

Beltane Ranch is absolutely gorgeous for your wedding portraits! When I got to work here, we spent time near the house, taking intimate couple’s portraits on the front porch. From there, we took some pictures in front of the Blue Oak. Not only is the tree a perfect accent for your pictures, but you will also get views of the surrounding valley. I love using the lawn where you can find stone walls, ivy-covered fences, and a vibrant green garden. Additionally, you will have the chance to use the vineyard itself for your portrait session.

This venue is going to make sure you have everything you need for your dream day! For your weekend, you will have a two-night stay at the inn included in your package. Throughout your day, you will have exclusive use of the site. You will have access to their resources, including a stage, a fire pit, tables, chairs, and lounge furniture. While they can provide snacks, you will be able to pick your own caterer.

If you are looking for the perfect spot for your Sonoma wedding, I think you are going to fall madly in love with the Beltane Ranch wedding venue! Now, it’s time to find a photographer who will be there to document it all. I can be there for that as well! As a destination wedding photographer, I love going all across the country to help people document their dream celebrations.
