Vine Street Christian Church is a Disciples of Christ congregation that remains one of the oldest in Nashville. The church began formally meeting in 1828 on Vine Street which is now 7th Avenue North. Over the years, they would bounce around locations, officially landing on the Harding Pike building in 1958. The Neo-Classical venue now opens its doors to everyone (yes, everyone!) to come and use the backdrop for their wedding.
With Vine Street Christian Church, you will have everything you need for your perfect wedding right on the grounds! The venue has separate spaces where you and your spouse can get ready ahead of your ceremony.
For your service, you will have a truly impressive sanctuary with enough space to fit up to 200 guests. The room has towering brick walls, buttressed ceilings, and a vintage organ running the height of the front wall. Right in the middle of the organ is a floor-to-ceiling window with slightly colored glass that makes the shape of the cross. Your guests will be seated in pews as you exchange your vows on the steps leading up to the stage.
While most people choose to have their reception at a separate location, the venue does have a reception space available to use in their basement. They can work with you to arrange the space for your perfect celebration!
When I got the chance to work with Caleb and Sabrina, we had a lot of fun walking around Vine Street Christian Church and finding the best wedding backdrops. Let’s start with the ceremony itself. The interior was truly stunning! The natural lighting of the cross window, married with the geometry of the buttresses and the organ, created a ceremony setting that was nothing short of iconic. When it was time for individual and group photos, we used the stained glass around the rest of the church to take pictures with the wedding party. Outside, the gorgeous landscaping was ideal for couple’s portraits. The legendary steeple and the towering green doors brought in the perfect amount of charm! Truly, it was a beautiful day made sweeter by a lovely couple!
Vine Street Christian Church is extremely flexible when it comes to hosting your wedding. You don’t have to belong to the church to use the sanctuary, and they allow you to bring in your own minister to officiate. They give you access to the organ and piano throughout your day, and you have up to 5 hours for your wedding. Additionally, they are great at working with couples to make sure all the details come together!
If you are looking for the right venue for your Nashville ceremony, a Vine Street Christian Church wedding needs to be at the top of your list! Now, you just need the right photographer with experience capturing this magnificent building. I can help with that, too!
