Belle Meade is a picturesque venue deeply rooted in the pages of history. Dating back to the 1850s, this estate has lush gardens, open fields, and elegant yet rustic interiors. As a Nashville wedding photographer, I get the chance to go behind the scenes of some of the best venues around. If you have been considering a Belle Meade wedding, here’s everything you can expect!

While the house at the Belle Meade wedding venue might have been built in 1854, its history goes back further than that. The lot was first purchased in 1807 as a spot to breed prized thoroughbred studs. Construction on the house formally started in 1853 and lasted through 1854. From there, the house was passed through the family while continuing to breed some of the fastest horses in the nation. The house was sold in 1906, and it quickly became a favorite spot for the public. To this day, it throws legendary events while teaching visitors all about its rich history.

Belle Meade offers over 30 acres that you will be able to use throughout your wedding day. The morning of your wedding, you will have a private space where you can relax with your party and slip into your gown once the time comes.
For your ceremony, you will want to use the Boxwood Garden. This tranquil spot is surrounded by lush trees with stone pews where your guests will be seated. The front of the area has a stage where you can stand and exchange vows amidst the carefully maintained hedges.
Once it’s time for your cocktail hour, your guests can head to the Carriage House, where they can sip signature drinks beneath the shade of the front porch. Then, for your reception, your guests can head inside the home for hours of celebration in a refined yet rustic barn-like setting. Additionally, the house has a semi-permanent tent that will give you more space as needed for your wedding day. This venue is able to accommodate up to 200 guests, making it a fabulous option for mid-sized weddings!

Belle Meade feels as though it has been curated for gorgeous wedding portraits! Across the 30 acres, you’ll find backgrounds such as stone fences, a babbling creek, and lush gardens. I also love incorporating the historic brickwork from the house into photo sessions. This gives us a textured backdrop as you show off your finished look!

In addition to the dreamy setting, the Belle Meade wedding venue is going to make sure you have what you need for your celebration. They have an open vendor policy, enabling you to bring in the experts who will totally transform your day. The Belle Meade wedding venue will provide you with an outdoor game court where your guests can play, and provide lawn games between your ceremony and reception. They will take care of the tables and chairs, and there will be a day-of coordinator on-site to keep things moving!
